Evening time trials

Great Gaddesden Parish Hall - HQ

This year we once again are planning on running a full season of Club 10 mile time trials starting on the 4th Thursday in April through to the 3rd Thursday in August. The only exception being the hilly circuits on the last Thursday in June.

Picture of Andy Murray competing in the Open 10For those of you who ride these events (& I do recommend them to everyone) we run several competitions during the year using these events.

The 2 main competitions are based on a points system on the finishing positions on both scratch & handicap on each of the 10 mile events. The points are 20 for 1st place down to 2 for 19th, and 1 point for every other finisher. Your best 10 scoring events are then totalled. As there are 17 events that you can ride (plus the hilly) you can afford to not ride some or discard some lower scores.

On Scratch there is a separate competition for men and women, each having the top 20 with their own points. The Handicap is fought between all members.
The Veterans also have a season long competition to find the one achieving the best time on Vet’s Standard (a kind of handicapping based on age over 40)
There is also a Longmarker event (usually the 2nd 10 completed) where anyone who has not gone faster than 25 mins in the club events in recent years qualifies & the fastest of those wins.

And then when we have dialled in everyone's handicap we have the Handicap 10 at the end of July, and the fastest on handicap wins.

It is expected that everyone does their share of helping out at the events at some point during the season. There is a requirement for at least one each of the following people at every event: Time Keeper, Start holder (Pusher), Dagnall marshal & turn marshal.

I will create and distribute a marshalling rota by early March. Please make a note of your allocations and check your availability. Note - if you cannot do the day allocated to you then you must arrange a replacement, then inform Paul of the change.
