  • Half Term Bikeability Report

    Wet Wet Wet (and cold)!

    Yes, that was the general theme for the half term Bikeability course run from the club house on 16th, 17th and 18th of Feburary 2010.

    Thirty one very brave children ventured out to complete their Level 1 and 2 Bikeability supported by British Cycling. I have to say, if I had the choice, I would have stayed at home, but no, they all came along with smiles and full of expectations which meant that Warren Cobb and I had to continue! We used the car park area to complete Level 1 which is really about basic skills plus an assessment of riding competences; can you ride a bike in a straight line? stop safely? steer around obstacles? and ride with one hand to give a signal? This proved to be very wet, muddy and a little uneven in places.

  • 77th Annual Dinner & Prize Presentations

    The Venue for this year is the Berkhamsted Cricket Club on Saturday 6th March 2010.

    It’s little different than usual. As we can make use of the Cricket Clubs changing facilities we have decided to have a light hearted roller racing event before hand which will start at 4:00 or later (please bring bike, gears restricted to 101” approx (53 x 14 or 50 x 13 for those on compacts), Fixed or geared bikes) and be finished in time for the 7:30 for 8:00 Hemel Hempstead Cycling Club Dinner and Prize Presentations.

  • Half Term Bikeabilty Course

    In association with British Cycling, Hemel Hempstead Cycle Club would like to invite your children to attend a Bikeability road safety course on Tuesday 16th Feb to Thursday 18th Feb.

  • New Club Website

    As you have probably noticed the club has a new website.

    The club has actually been online since about 2001 and the website has gone through a number of updates to get to its current form.  The latest version came about from a desire to simplify our content and add a better events calendar. The main changes on the site are:

    • Simplified navigation
    • A new events calendar and filterable listing to help you find out what is going on
    • A better way of sharing stories to replace the club's old printed newsletter.  Provided by the News pages
    • A full history of the club from its beginnings in 1933.  This one is going to be a work in progress as we tap the archives
    • Details of the club champions and championships. Again a work in progress
    • Finally, a much improved editing system to make it easier to maintainence team

  • Chiltern Classics 2010

    Roger Manley has sent through details of the 2010 Chiltern Classics.

    The ‘Chiltern Classics’ Reliability Rides 2010.
    Six great events with  a different circuit each week, different hills - different scenery.
    All Reliability Rides have time bands to suit your pace. Certificates awarded to riders completing within their selected time band.

  • Tour 2010 - Club trip to the Pyrenees

    In July this year 16 of us went to the Pyrenees for a week, to climb some of the cols and to watch a stage of the Tour.

    Next year, the Tour is spending longer in the area with 4 of the 6 High Mountain stages being in the Pyrenees, and I'm planning a similar week long trip.

Welcome to Hemel Hempstead Cycling Club.

The club was formed in 1933 by group of 20 keen cyclists. It caters for those who want to get together and ride bikes in the areas around Hemel, Watford, Tring and Berkhamsted.

The club promotes a varied programme of activities ranging from regular club rides and training sessions through to open competitions.

We are active in all branches of the sport, including road cycling, off-road cycling and triathlon. All ages from youth to veterans are encouraged.

We have proudly achieved Clubmark status and aim to promote friendly events for all to enjoy.
