Bicester Millennium CC 9-up on 10 August Silverstone

Postby Paul Thomson » Wed Jun 20, 2012 4:29 pm

Hi Chaps,

Many of you will have heard about this event. In the past the BMCC have run this 9-up at the Weston on the Green airfield course at the end of July, but this year they are running it on Silverstone. On the Grand Prix circuit. It should be awesome.

However there are other changes:
It costs £150 per team (£16.67each). Seems hefty, but does ensure only serious teams or clubs enter and I think the bulk of it goes to charity.
We can name up to 3 reserves
Road bikes only (no TT bikes/bars, etc.) Am checking if we can use TT wheels, but their rules state they must be UCI complient... Not sure anyone will actually check that though.
Proper helmets as it's under BC regs, not CTT (not that this is an issue for most)
It's on a FRIDAY! I think it's evening... but will confirm

There are a number of confirmed teams from F1 GP teams riding... that should be interesting! I wonder how many 'ringers' they can bring in!

I need to be able to confirm our participation by no later than the end of next week - and pay the entry fee (non refundable!).

So if you are interested then let me know asap.
I think we can get a half decent team together but we need a team that can work together - someone too strong will be disruptive if they don't handle it well!

Oh yes - the BMCC 4-up is the following week (Tuesday 14 August) but back to normal I think - CTT and on the normal course. We need to start to look at this soon too!

Maybe interested if I can start to string a few good weeks training together. Otherwise I will defer to the fit people and come along as official photographer.

I'd love to think the Williamson's (or at least the majority of them) would be there to support the event however given that I've promised myself August off it'll most likely be from the pit lane...

I'm interested if there's a space. Good to see that there is a big pool of riders to pick from.

Baynsey - this will be like coming home mate except less leather and watch your knees on the corners!

So we have:
Ian Baynes
Richard Boley
Ben Hurford
Simon Hemington
Gavin Atkins
Geoff Reynolds
Helen Reynolds
Chris Grange
Steve Hewitt
John Lacey
Darren Powell
Keith Fletcher

So we have 12 at least... any more? We are allowed up to 3 reserves.

If we get more then we'll have to make decisions on who is best for the team or not. I'd like to get people committed with entry fee's too! Either down the clubroom Monday or Thursday at the club 10.

Paul

Edited to add Keith, John and Dazzer...

Paul, I'm happy to join in if there is space. Can we have 2 teams if we get enough?

Don't know about that - last I saw there was already close to a full field of those teams and clubs committed. Not sure we realistically could get 2 teams together though. Theoretically, yes, realistically, no.
As we now have 12 riders we will have to think about who might have to be reserves...
