Fastest: Conor Dunne 21:31

Hi Folks,

Tonights 10 was run off in reasonable conditions, with a light breeze across the course and temps around 14ÂșC. The threatened rain forcast all week never matrialised, so we had a nice dry road.

Fastest on the night once again was Conor Dunne, just a few seconds slower than last week, and with well over a minute spare on 2nd placed Matt Meadows. John Lacey was just a handful of seconds back in 3rd, but managed to beat Philip Murrell (Finsbury Park CC) by just 1 second.

After consulting back through the annuls of time - and checking with some relevant people, we have concluded that Conor's time of last week is the fastest junior time on this course by a Hemel rider, and the 2nd fastest ever by a junior. That bodes well for the future for him - the times he is doing is comparable with those that won National Champs in days when the competition amongst juniors was quite possibly the strongest of all time.

Back to tonight, and on handicap the winner was Giles Haley, who seems to gave got to grips with his new bike and stormed round in a time similar to what he used to a few years ago, knocking over half a minute off his best from last year. Another benefitting from a TT bike was Helen Reynolds, who missed all of last year due to injury and seems to have put thet behind her. With a borrowed TT bike she even beat her time from 2007. in 3rd place was John Lacey after his time produced a PB by 6 seconds, with Conor coming in 4th, despite his allowance being reduced after last week.

Tonights event was also the Longmarkers Trophy, which rewards the fastest person who hasn't beaten 25 minutes in recent years. This year I am going to have to refer to the committee as I have a few rules of eligability to clarify. I will announce the winner hopefully next week once resolved!

Thanks to the marshals John Dunne (in place of son Conor), Gavin Atkins, Andrzej Bojarski and JD pushing off.

Next weeks marshals should be Darren Powell, Tom Silverlock, Kristian Stentoft and David Taylor. However I know that Tom is unable to come so I am looking for someone to fill his place.

I am also looking for someone to help me on our mashalling duties of the Norlond Combine 50 on Sunday 17 May. We don't have a choice with this one - we must provide them!

Next week also sees the return of Bob Clark so timing duties will pass to him!

Cheers,
Paul
