Evening 10 June 2009
Hello all,
The weather was kind to us again, with the clouds rolling away letting the sun shine and warming up the late afternoon and also allowing the breeze to drop. The elections forced us to change HQ from the usual hall to the nearby school in Gt Gaddesden, and fortunately enough people read the information telling them that - or they managed to find someone who had!
Fastest on the night was Gavin Atkins, who held off a strong challenge from Julian Smith, just a dozen seconds down. In 3rd place John Lacey continued his strong start to the season with another PB and is now within striking distance of the big guns as he was just 20 seconds down on Julian. 4th was Matt Meadows a further quarter of a minute down. A strong showing from all these riders... why can't we get them to all ride the same time trials when they really count and threaten some team prizes? Come on guys - get coordinated - use the forum threads to sort out the races you are doing and let us all know...
On handicap, with it being another good evening there were a number of riders doing PB's or fastest on the course. Top of the pile was Graeme Woods who took almost a minute off his PB so won on handicap. Richard Greaves has improved in every race he's done so far and another 40 second improvement netted 2nd place. John Lacey's previously mentioned improvement resulted in 3rd place on handicap. 4th place was taken by Grahame Freeman, who's improvement was slightly predicted by the handicapper as his 50 second improvement wasn't enough to get higher up the table.
Thanks to Richard Boley for the pushing, David Taylor for the turn marshalling and Mel and James Conibear for marshalling at the Dagnall roundabout. Bob Clark and Dave Rogers did the timekeeping duties.
Next weeks marshalling duties will be performed by Neil Bradburn, Giles Haley, Duncan Knight and .... well it was going to be Tom Silverlock, but I know he is unable to make it, so I need someone to take his place - please let me know if you can help.
