Mid Season Triathlon Update
HHCC duathletes and triathletes have enjoyed an excellent start to the season, competing strongly at the county championships and with a number having already qualified for world age group finals later in the year.
Back in early March, Richard Hardy battled a tough, undulating course and windy conditions at the Dambuster Duathlon at Rutland Water to finish 3rd in the 60-64 age group and gain qualification for the World Duathlon Championships in Adelaide this October. He enjoyed further success three weeks later at the English cross duathlon championships as he again raced in challenging conditions at a muddy, rainswept Hole Park in Kent to win his age group, finish 38th overall and secure a place at October’s European Cross Duathlon Championships in Spain.
The club also has three age group qualifiers for the ITU World Sprint Triathlon Championships in Chicago in September. Both Ruth Grint (45-49) and Mike Dixon (70-74) were among the qualifiers at Eton Dorney on the 23rd of May. Mike Donovan (60-64) has also qualified for Chicago, having qualified 4th in his age group at the Nottingham Triathlon a week later.
