Ironman UK Bolton - 20 July 2014

Hi everyone, I headed up to Bolton last Friday for Ironman UK. My 5th Ironman and the first in the 55+ age category. Preparation hadn't been great in that February and March were disrupted by a difficult redundancy exercise at work (as the HR Director that put me in the eye of the storm!) so trainin...

English Sprint Champs - Emberton 6 July 2014

Hi there, So far as I know 5 Hemel people did the above event last weekend over the now familiar Emberton course. In pretty near perfect conditions there were a solid set of performances. For my own part I felt good and other than a hash of T2 where I couldn't find the correct rack (counted from swi...

Re: IM Austria

Dan,

Welcome to the Ironman club, and what a fantastic debut! You chose a good one to do for your first one out and sounds like everything went really well for you. :D I guess you will be coming down from cloud 9 a bit now so you will need another target

Cheers,

Mike

Re: 2014 Bedford Sprint Triathlon 15 June

Well done Ian and Martin - great to get two top 3 placings in your AG. I will see you Ian at Emberton on 6th July. However I am at Hyde Park on the 4th for Black Sabbath/Motorhead/Soundgarden/Faith No More/Wolfmother etc. so my performance will depend on how much I can limit my alcohol intake .... :...

Dambuster Triathlon 21/06/2014

I returned to this event after a 3 year absence to compete in my first triathlon in nearly 2 years! Preparation had not been great as I had a virus for 3 weeks which meant I only had 2 weeks proper training before the event. However I went up there the night before and stayed in a hotel in Oakham an...

2013 Club Triathlon Secretary's Report submitted to the AGM

TRIATHLON SECERTARY’S REPORT – 2013 SEASON It has been a busy year for many of the club’s triathletes, with others being less active than in past seasons for a number of reasons but mainly injuries. It was fantastic for the Club to have 3 representatives at the European Age Group Championships in Al...

Events for 2014

Hi everyone, Events for 2014 are selling fast! Vitruvian sold out in 24 hours. Dambuster Olympic Triathlon (World and European qualifier and National Champs) on 21 June 2014 has just opened entries to pre-registered applicants and I think is on general sale from Monday. I have just entered. Likely t...

Re: Club Champs and Awards 2013

Thanks for that thought Sandra. My recommendation to the committee on Monday will be that for the subjective awards of most improved and best novice that in fact it is a vote of the members of the triathlon section. I think any formula one might come up with cannot be perfect and there will always b...

Re: Club Champs and Awards 2013

Thanks everyone for the clarification and I hope that has helped you understand the process Sandra. As Ian says the Best Novice and Most Improved are gender independent and perhaps should remain that way (I think Ben got Best Novice last year and Verna has it this year). I wonder if we should take t...

Re: Club Champs and Awards 2013

Sandra,

I have no idea why that is and it does seem a bit unfair as I guess you infer. Ian and Simon instituted the awards and I have merely applied them this year. Sounds like something you may like to take up with the Committee?

Best Regards,
Mike

Club Champs and Awards 2013

Dear all, As I think everyone knows our competed for awards this year have had some difficulties. The most improved event was intended to be the Bedford Sprint on 16 June 2013. In the event it appeared that this clashed with the Club 25 mile championship, though I'm not sure that many were affected ...

Re: National Club (and Hemel) Club Champs 22 Sept. - Olney

Ian, I'm not sure if it is a decision purely down to me but yes I am happy if others are. However I would just make the observation that I think there are two people planning to do it so far - Carol and Sandra (up to 3 if you can manage it). I do wonder whether it is meaningful to have it as the clu...

Re: National Club (and Hemel) Club Champs 22 Sept. - Olney

Ian, As I said, very happy if people wish to do this. I guess what I was saying was that other than that, postponing it is probably the only other option. Yours and Simon's efforts to etablish the event are appreciated, certainly by me as I have enjoyed competing in them these last few years. I thin...

Re: National Club (and Hemel) Club Champs 22 Sept. - Olney

I haven't been told anything yet by the event organiser but have emailed him this morning to clarify the position. The Eton Dorney event sounds the only option if people are up for this. If they are then I will have to leave them to enter themselves as I will have no time to coordidnate another team...
