Bike insurance

Postby smogan » Mon Sep 30, 2013 11:02 am

Hi all,
I have insurance with Triathlon England for when I'm out on the roads but I have just tried to insure both my bikes separately on my home insurance and they won't insure 'race' bikes in storage....stupido!
Any recommendations, what do you all do?
My bikes are kept in the house not even in an outbuilding

Thanks
Sandra

Triathlon England (and BC/CTC, etc.) do not insure the bikes with their normal memebrship packages - you are insured against 3rd party claims against you and for legal aid to claim against others. Most will also do bike insurance but in my experience they are never that cheap.

Of the household insurers that often get recommended, NFU seem to get good reviews. M&S used to be good, but have now started to charge quite high amounts for bikes over a certain value (£500 I think). I currently do mine through Swinton.

Thanks Paul,
Sorry for late reply.....I changed my house/buildings insurance to Santander in the end and added 3 bikes to the policy. Only added a few quid to policy
