Are we turbo training this winter?

Are we turbo training this winter?

Postby Simon Hemington » Tue Nov 22, 2011 11:27 am

Is there any interest in turbo training at the clubroom on a Monday evening this year?
When do you want to start?

I did a few of these last year and enjoyed the sessions...... did I mean enjoy?!

I have a few of the Sufferfest videos that have great music and are really good work outs. To make it work will need a monitor plus speakers. I think there are speakers but not sure about a monitor....

Start of December sounds good to me. I am going to try to come a bit more regularly this winter.

OK.... completely forgot about doing it yesterday.... So we'll start it up next week.

As it's a Committee meeting next week too, we will start at 7pm prompt... Anyone who can't make it for 7 can join in as soon as they arrive - they'll just get a shorter workout. Normally we will start at 7:30 otherwise. If there is demand for changing or duplicating, I can open up and run sessions on other days (with permission!).

If Scoops brings his sufferfest video/DVD's then we can have a big screen up, otherwise we will follow the scheduled sessions set out by Club Performance Coach Gav... Gav's schedule provides a gradual build-up during the winter sessions with longer and longer efforts and ends the season with harder and longer efforts and that should give some sort of basic fitness towards the following season.

Don't forget to bring a bike (I know - it seems obvious!), a drink, a towel and something to change into afterwards to keep warm. If it's cold (which is normal) then it's advisable to have a few thin layers to start off with and during the first 10-15 minutes warm-up you can take layers off. We do have a number of fans to then try to keep you cool enough! If you have your own turbo then please try to use it but the club does have half a dozen to borrow if you haven't or it's difficult to transport. These will not be reserved, but available on a first come first served basis!

OK, decision was made last night to postpone the turbo sessions until January, with the first session now planned for 9 Jan. We only have one more Monday night open at the clubroom before then as the next 2 are holday dates.
