Longdean Cyclo X Course Setup - Sat 12th at 2pm

Postby Simon Hemington » Mon Oct 07, 2013 12:25 pm

Roll on another week and we need to put out the course ready for Sunday's races. I think I have Roger, Duncan, Paul, Keith and Sam lined up.

Can anybody else come along and help to put in stakes and tape?

We will meet at the Hill Common car park a Longdean School at 2 pm. It usually takes a couple of hours to sort out. If you want to bring a bike you can get in a quick pre-ride in at the end of the day.

It was a good turnout for the setting up... we had it all dialled in before 4pm and just had a few tidying up issues whilst a few went around trying out the course. Lovely and dry and fairly warm...

Then Sunday came and it was blowing a gale and throwing it down with rain... the course turned muddy and clogged up the bikes.
But we had even more people to help. It was epic and great.
I heard one competitor tell me "That was the hardest cross race I have ever done. But it was a great course - you really made it great - I loved it!" even though we had only changed a tiny few things... just an extra up and down off camber bit on the banking!

Judging by comments on Facebook, a lot of people enjoyed the rain and mud, making it a 'proper' CX race. I am glad though, to have made sure I had new wellies for the day and waterproof trousers.

Super fast results service too, well done.
