Youth & Junior Cyclo-Cross Coaching Day, Sat 13 Sept - organised by the BC Cyclo-Cross Commission at Shipley Park near Derby. Aspiring coaches and riders invited. Led by coach Martin Eadon, the day is aimed principally at riders who will be competing as final year youth or first year juniors in the forthcoming cyclo-cross season (born 1992 or 1993, although for female riders those a year or two older will welcome). The day is open to any rider, irrespective of whether part of a BC talent team or other programme, but is keen to attract those focusing on cyclo-cross as their main discipline. It is designed to complement the talent programme at Mallory recently, and will cover specific skills, techniques, race preparation and other aspects specific to 'cross. No charge for the day, but places limited. Riders interested in attending should e-mail: cyclo-cross@britishcycling.org.uk by Fri 29 August to register. Full details of the schedule will be forwarded, together with a parental consent form, which must be completed and brought on the day.

Bike Blenheim Palace, Sunday 28 September will provide an amazing opportunity to ride here for the first time. Please support it Events include a 1-hour Elite/1/2 Road Race, a 20km Time Trial and the the Brompton World Championships. Following the races cycling routes of varying lengths on the closed roads will be opened to the general public. An Event Village will include retailers, Mountain Bike display team, Bike Polo, Vintage Bikes and 'Go Ride' skills & race courses for youngsters. Admission for leisure cycling and and spectators to the fabulous grounds: Pre register for a discounted ticket of £6.70 for adults and £3.20 for under 16s. Central Regional Forum for ALL clubs will focus on the Cyclo-Cross League and proposed Regional Youth Development Team. Mon 22 September near Aylesbury @ 7.30 pm (date and venue tbc soon) .

Updated Coaching Programme (attached or see website) incl new L2 at Edmonton - places also available at Cardiff Oct /Jan, and in region at Milton Keynes Mar /June. For L3 apply direct to Michelle Smith. ACAT course for teachers late Oct, venue tbc. Bursaries available include NorthantsSport (next deadline 27 Aug), and Skills Active for London, Berks, Bucks & Oxon - contact me for info. Please encourage more people to train as coaches.
