Swim Training

Postby benhur » Thu Nov 07, 2013 3:47 pm

All,

I have received a number of enquiries regarding swim training and I keen to get something arranged. To start the ball rolling, could you please confirm if you are;

A) interested
B) evening(s) that work for you
C) most convenient start time
D) perfected venue

Based on your responses I will comeback with a proposal.

Finally, I have found a coach that would be willing to provide poolside training. There would be cost associated to this training, but if we get a number of us attending on a regular basis, this could be very cost effective.

Hi Ben

a. Yes, interested.
b. Flexible for most nights with a bit of notice. Suggest you avoid Thursday to not clash with TT's in the Spring.
c. Around 8pm start.
d. Berko, then Hemel

Does this mean the Wed swim in Hemel has not restarted. Should I can take it off the website for now?

Hi Simon,

Please remove the Wednesday night swim session while we sort out a new session. I will aim to have a new session set-up before the end of November.

Thanks
Ben

Answers below:
Additional Qs - can kids come or non members - I don't have an issue with kids and non-members attending, but I would like to establish the number of members who would like to attend first. The number will dictate the approach we have to take:

1 - share a lane(s) with other users
2 - book a dedicated lane(s)

Once I have collated all the feedback, I will cost up both option and share.

Who is prospective coach and any idea of cost - would it be per session or upfront for a term or similar block? Roland Kemp has offered his services - www.rolandkempfitness.co.uk. There would be a training cost. Again, once I have an idea of numbers, venue etc .... I will confirm his availability and cost. As his costs will be fixed and the training sessions build week-on-week, it will require a level of commitment to a training block. I will work with Roland so we can be as flexible as possible.

We have a venue, day and time for a swim session. Roland (www.rolandkempfitness.co.uk) has kindly done some research and found a swim slot at Sportspace Berko between 7-8pm on Tuesday evening - 1 lane.

If you are interested in attending this session, please post.

Hi Ben

I can only make that time slot until Christmas. After then my wife has a class booked at that time. Sounds good though so hopefully others can make it.

Hi Ben

This would be too early for me most Tuesdays, I'm afraid.

All,

Sportspace have pulled our swimming lane, due to a "conflict in business interests". Basically, they don't want anyone offering training advice that is not a Sportspace Team Member. I'm currently looking for a new venue, but it proving harder than I thought.

I'll keep everyone posted, but there won't be a group session next week.

Hi Ben,

Have you got any further regarding the swim training venue? I haven't swam now for 2 months and am thinking it's about time that I got my ar@e into gear. Is anyone still attending on Wednesday evenings at Sports Space?

Hi Scott

We started swimming on Wednesday evenings at Hemel Sportspace again in late-November.

As before, we're meeting poolside at about 8.05 pm and swimming for about an hour. We generally concentrate on technique drills one week and then do some endurance training the next. There is often a Sportspace SwimFit coach available to provide a little technical input.

Be great to see you there again, especially if you're not going to leave us all for dead now!

All club members welcome.

Cheers

Stephen and I can join Hemelings for some swim training in January - probably there a bit earlier than 8.05pm though.

This will be our set for Wednesday where CSS1 is your apportioned 200m TT speed if it fits with your plans
b) 2 x (5 x 100m at CSS 1+.7s (20s RI) 200m Easy Pull)
200m Kick as 25m kick | 25 swim repeat (drink RI)
500m Easy

Stephen does the full thing and I do what I can.
